surrealism.co.uk - Home Page Online Collaborations

What do the terms "Online Community" and "Artistic Portal" really mean?
Whilst we ponder this, and fantasize about owning a computer that's powerful enough to run "second life"... regardless of whether or not world capitalism collapses, people will continue to make art.

Not the art that exchanges hands for millions of dollars as an alternative commodity for the uber rich (although in an ironic sense, this art/commodity is itself a commentary on the contemporary lack of community in the real world and the acceptance of greed as a definition of success), but the art that's made by the rest of us, those who don't happen to know the editors of the Sunday colour supplements.

Why surrealism?
Unless you've been in a coma for the last century, or only ever had a conversation with Brian Sewell, you cannot have failed to notice that surrealist, dada, and situationalist ideas continue to resonate as loudly today as they ever have, from the creative protests at the G8 summits, to the appropriation of ideas used for T.V. adverts.

Surrealism.co.uk has two functions - it is an online gallery for anyone who believes their work to be in some way "surreal", and a vehicle for written and aural collaborations.
